The Traveler’s Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success

If you’re looking to change your fortune and increase your odds in life, then you must take action. To borrow the popular quote from Nike, “Just Do It”. There’s a chance you could fall a few times, but at the very least you will gain knowledge on the situation. That may not help you then and there, but as you continue on towards your goals it will make a difference.

The “Travelers Gift”, written by Andy Andrews is one of my favorite books. It’s a short read that can inspire people to achieve personal success in their lives.

Step 3: Set a Routine

Who agrees this is a buyers world? Buy this…buy that. Commercials, movies, songs and just about everything around us is centered around buying. Don’t get me wrong. I love buying new things, but I also have fun paying bills down or paying them off completely.

I strongly agree that in order to be debt free or in a better debt position you must get into a ROUTINE of paying a little more than your minimum payments each month.

REMEMBER: If you pay your minimum payments only, then you’re doing just what the credit card companies want you to do. Paying minimum payments only makes the credit card companies rich, not you.

Think about this for a second. You’ve been paying a little more than your min. payments for a couple of months now. You look at your statement and now your balance is lower. If you have a lower balance, then usually your payments are less. Before you know it you’re starting to see progress.

WARNING: You must continue to pay extra on your min. payments for this work. If you continue paying a little extra each time, then you will notice you have more and more money going straight to reducing your balance.

Good luck and stay focused.

Introducing Pegasus Credit College

We are dedicating this blog to the growth of Pegasus Credit College.

Pegasus Credit College’s main goal will be to provide simple lessons about personal finance, free advice about your credit report, great tips on budgeting that you can act on right away and NO sales pitch. I’ll utilize my 8 years experience as a Mortgage Consultant to assist consumers in understanding what an Underwriter is looking for to approve your loan. I can help you understand the ins and outs of getting to the closing table.

Don’t spend the next 25 years paying high interest rates on your home, cars and insurance premiums. Start taking the small steps today and tomorrow will be brighter.

A couple of small steps to start with today.

Step One: Face the fire. Grab those credit card statements and put pen to paper. Write down all your payments, balances, interest rates and due dates. You must know every little detail about your current payment situation.

Step Two: Memorize all the information from Step One. For instance, you don’t want to miss a payment by one day and get charged a $35.00 late fee. That could have been $35.00 you could have put down on the balance. I know that doesn’t sound like a new and exciting approach but I’m trying to set a tone for how I plan on moving forward with this blog. After all, it’s going to be all the little things that get you out of the hole. Remember, if all your credit card balances are high compared to their opening balance then the credit reporting agency will hold that against you. Keep your balances low. It will make a difference. Remember the Underwriter, he or she’s needs to know that you’re not HIGH RISK. High balances = High Risk

Tomorrow will discuss more steps and we’ll look at the three C’s; Credit, Collateral and Capacity
